Important Dates and Deadlines for Event Participation:


1: Global Cuisine Tasting: Families will bring a bite sized cultural dish/food item to share. Please include a note that lists all ingredients used and have tools to serve the food, and paper plates/napkins to hand out the food. Due to increased sensitivities to nuts we would ask that all food items are NUT FREE. Families are encouraged to set up their tables between 4:30pm to 6pm.

2: Fashion Show: We welcome Goshen Gators and their families to come to this event proudly wearing traditional clothes of a culture to showcase on the stage. Please provide your email, name of the participant, and the country they are representing.

Note: To participate in the show, you will need to sign up by February 16th and commit to rehearsal on February 23rd in the gym. An email will be sent out on 16th with details regarding the rehearsals.

3: Performance: Cultural performance will give the audience an artistic presentation of the unique cultures.

This may include Singing, dancing, or others. Each participant will have 2 to 3 minutes maximum to perform. Please provide us with your email, the full name of the participant, name of the act, and the country they are representing.

Note: To participate, you will need to sign up by February 16th and commit to rehearsal on February 23rd in the gym. An email will be sent out on 16th with details regarding the rehearsals.

4: Cultural Booth: Families are encouraged to bring a tri-fold or other standing poster clearly labeled with the country you are representing, a map and/or any photos or pictures of the country or culture being represented. You may include special artifacts that are from your culture. How do your languages look different from English? What are children's favorite games in a particular culture? Families are encouraged to set up their tables between 4:30pm to 6pm.

5: Dance Party: Families are welcome to send us a song or two from their culture for us to play for the dance party. Make sure to send the song name, singer and the country it is from. Please email your song choice by February 23rd.

6: Slide Show: Families will submit a family photo or two in their traditional attire by February 23rd .This slide show will be played on the screens throughout the building during multicultural night.

7: Cultural Project: Family/children are encouraged to create a handprint with 5 things that are important to them and their culture. For instance, What are the traditions that families have kept across the generations? What are the symbols of your family heritage? What is the oldest recipe in your family? Students are encouraged to decorate using any materials to represent their family heritage. These handprints will be displayed around the school showing who makes up our school.

Note: This project will be provided by your child's home teacher. Students must return the completed artwork to their home teachers by February 23rd. All submitted work will be displayed at the Multicultural Night.
